Keeping your Neff cooker hood filters clean is key to ensuring optimal performance and maintaining fresh air quality in your kitchen. Follow these simple steps to learn how to clean your extractor fan filters and keep them in excellent condition.

Before you begin, always make sure that your cooker hood is switched off and unplugged from the power supply.

Removing the Filters

NEFF cooker hoods typically come equipped with grease filters and may also require recirculation filters if you prefer a recirculating installation. The method for removing them can vary by model, but here are the general steps to follow.

Grease Filters (Metal Mesh)

  • Gently slide or lift the filter out of its compartment.
  • Depending on your model, you may need to press a tab or use the handle to release it.

Recirculating Filters (if applicable)

  • These filters are commonly used in recirculating hoods. If your NEFF hood is equipped with a recirculating filter, carefully detach it from the mounting slots.
  • For specific instructions on filter removal, refer to your NEFF cooker hood’s user manual. You can find your user manual here.

Cleaning the Grease Filters (Metal Mesh)

  • Dishwashing:
    • Some NEFF grease filters are dishwasher safe. Check your user manual to confirm if your filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher. If so, simply place it in for an easy clean (please do not include any other items or cutlery in the wash). Washing the filters in a dishwasher may result in slight discoloration. You can spray them beforehand with our tested and approved Degreaser for even better results. We recommend grease filters be cleaned every 1 - 3 months depending on usage.
  • Hand washing:
    • Soak the grease filter in warm water with a mild detergent in the sink.
    • Use a soft brush or sponge to scrub away any grease buildup, ensuring to remove any stuck particles in the mesh.
    • For stubborn burnt-on food and grease stains, we recommend using our specially tested and approved degreaser. Allow the filter to soak for approximately 10-15 minutes to help loosen any tough dirt and grease.
  • After cleaning, rinse the filters thoroughly under warm water to remove any remaining cleaning solution and loosened dirt. Gently shake off any excess water.
  • Place the filters on a clean towel or use a microfiber cloth to absorb any additional moisture. Allow the filters to air dry completely before reattaching them to your cooker hood. Avoid using a hairdryer or direct heat sources, as they may damage the filters.
  • Once your filter is completely dry, gently reattach it to the cooker hood, making sure it clicks or locks securely into place. For detailed guidance on properly reinstalling your filter, please check your user manual.

Recirculating Filters

  • If your NEFF cooker hood uses a recirculating filter, it’s important to know that these cannot be cleaned or washed, as they are designed for one-time use. Instead, they need to be replaced periodically to maintain optimal performance. To determine how often your recirculating filter should be replaced, visit our guide here.
