How to clean an oven using the EasyClean and Pyrolytic features

We understand that being free in your kitchen also means being free from the stress of cleaning a dirty oven. For showroom results after regular cleaning, we recommend using our tested and approved Oven Cleaning Gel Spray or Oven Cleaning Gel, which comes with an applicator brush. If you’re looking for a multi-purpose cleaner which is perfect for oven cleaning, our Degreaser is a great alternative which can also help pre-treat metal extractor hoods before washing them in the dishwasher.
Each of our cleaners works without the usual chemical smells and makes light work of tough crusty residues, leaving you more to time to create fantastic food.

For stubborn grease residues, we recommend making use of the cleaning functions your oven has. You may wish to use the functions as a combination to tackle residue that has built-up over time.

Start by removing all racks and accessories from the oven and if this is the first time that you’re using your oven’s self-cleaning feature, we highly recommend familiarising yourself with the directions of use found in your oven's instruction manual.

Easyclean neff oven function

How to use the EasyClean function

1. Begin by heating your oven to room temperature. If you’ve just finished cooking, you’ll need to wait for the oven to cool down sufficiently before beginning the cleaning process.
2. Ensure that you have removed all racks, rails and baking trays from the oven.
3. Mix a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid with 400ml (0.4L) water.
4. Pour the water mixture to the bottom of your oven.
5. Turn on the oven and press Home, then flick through the settings and select EasyClean.
6. Once the program has finished, wipe the interior surface with a soft sponge or cloth.
7. You may choose to use the Dry function to dry your oven.

How to use the Pyrolytic function

If your oven has a Pyrolytic function, you may choose to use it in combination with the EasyClean. During this self-clean programme, your oven is heated to approximately 485°C which reduces all the leftover food and spills to ash. This allows you to simply wipe away any deposits with a damp cloth for a perfectly clean oven with no chemical cleaners or exhausting scrubbing once the program has ended. This method of cleaning is not intended for frequent cleans, but rather once every 6 – 12 months depending on how dirty your oven gets.

Step-by-step guide

1. Before beginning, ensure you have removed all racks, rails, baking trays and the water tank if you have a steam oven.
2. Give the interior a quick wipe down with a damp cloth to leave behind only the most stubborn food residue.
3. Turn on your oven and then select the Pyrolytic cleaning function. You can choose between three levels of intensity for your cleaning and you should make your choice depending on the amount of food residue present in your oven and how long it has been left in there for. Confirm your selection and press Start.
4. The oven door will be now locked and remain so throughout the cleaning process until the oven has cooled sufficiently to be wiped down. You will see a lock symbol appear, to indicate that the oven door cannot be opened.
5. Once the program has finished, wipe any remaining ash with a damp cloth and return any racks, rails and baking accessories to their original position.
